Jaworzyna Śląska ((ドイツ語:Königszelt), (ラテン語:Sycomoria Silesiana) ) is a town in Świdnica County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland. It is the seat of the administrative district (gmina) called Gmina Jaworzyna Śląska. The town lies approximately north of Świdnica, and south-west of the regional capital Wrocław. It is an important railroad junction, located along the major line from Wrocław to Wałbrzych. In Jaworzyna, this line crosses with less important connections to Strzegom and Kamieniec Zabkowicki. Prior to 1945 it was in Germany. After World War II the region was placed under Polish administration and ethnically cleansed according to the post-war Potsdam Agreement. The native German populace was expelled and replaced with Poles. (For more information about the history of the region, see Silesia) In 2006, the town had a population of 5,240.
